Watch out for wildlife after road closures

Last evening, I was traveling across the Pass just moments before a temporary road closure due to construction. I was traveling eastbound, and noted that the westbound lanes had already been closed. As I looked over at the westbound lanes, I saw a deer emerge from the forest, glance at the quiet roadway, and step onto the pavement. I don’t know what happened to that particular deer when the traffic resumed–hopefully it was long gone–but it did prompt me to think that some animals may seize the moment during a closure to try to cross. Please be careful when you begin to drive again after a temporary closure; wildlife don’t know how to read closure signs!
